Until a few years ago, a Sanskrit class was more likely to look like a handful of adults engaged in religious study in the organisation’s library, because many Hindu and Buddhist scriptures are written and chanted in the language. Now, the Ramakrishna Mission’s programme has expanded to a formal exam-based curriculum with monthly show-and-tell performances that can attract more than 50 participants, Swami Vimokshananda said. The change is partly thanks to the efforts of Dr Srinivasa Malladi, 44, a psychiatrist at the Institute of Mental Health. – From Straits Times, Singapore.

Thirumurai Talks
I was cordially invited by the 36th Thirumurai Manadu (Conference) Committee, represented by Prof Thinnappan who encouraged me to give a Talk in Tamil. In the short speech in Tamil, as a Guest of Honour, I recounted the great truths that lie in the honey dipped words of songs in Thirumurai. The similarities of Lord Shiva and Swamiji in their nature and form, I enumerated along with the story of two gardeners, told by Swami Vivekananda to the Rameshwaram audience after his triumphant return to India conveying the idea that service to people is worship of Lord.
Toowoomba Talks
The Pure Land Learning College Association of Toowoomba in Queensland, Australia, was founded in 2001 by Venerable Buddhist monk Master Chin Kung. The PLLCA invited Swami Vimokshananda to deliver 3 lectures from a Hindu perspective. The Lectures were given on 23, 24 & 25 March. They were well received by the residents of the Toowoomba society. The monks and nuns as also the residents of the society along with a few Hindus attended the lectures. The question-answer session after every Talk showed that how much interest was generated in the topics for discussion. The topics discussed were:
- Harmony of Faiths – Is there any Real Solution?
- Why Can’t we Live in Peace?
- Values for a Family – Is Karmic Law Relevant?
These series of invited Talks were a sequel to the much-appreciated efforts by the Inter-Religious Organisation of Singapore (IRO) whose avowed object is promoting harmony and peace and understanding between people of different faiths. All the three Talks have been placed in YouTube website for easy access to people.

Dear Bikas babu
Thanks for your visit to this Blog on a very auspicious Jagaddhatri Puja day!
So your problem is the retention of what you read and listen. Retention signifies the power of memory. Memory can be strengthened in many ways. One of the best ways is to devlop the faculty of Concentration. “Concentration is the key to knowledge” says Swami Vivekananda. Then retrieval of what you read and listen will be more easier.
May the blessings of Divine MotherJagaddhatri be on you is my prayer!

Swamiji Maharaj!
Am trying to concentrate on and for a few days, I could recollect the matter but as the other materialistic concerns mainly physical – not being able to relocate – absolute peace or part of it that I am seeking – your citations helped me!
I need more from you as a blessing.
Pranam!
