The Lord’s Lance

IMG-20160124-WA0002

Today is Thai Pusam. The festival of worshipping Lord Muruga who was offered of the victorious lance (Vel) by the Divine Mother Parvati. What are the implications of this age-old tradition to the modern world? Is there anything, apart from the ennobling rituals associated with this puja, that gives meaning to this Life?

Reader Yogan Naidoo from South Africa explores beautifully in an article published in our Quarterly spiritual magazine NIRVANA.

A link is placed below. The article starts in Page 18. Wish you all a happy reading!

      Dear Shubha
Indeed Skanda in Sanskrit is called lovingly by Tamils as Murugan. It means ‘handsomely beautiful’. The devotees of Murugan appreciate the beauty in the external form, thus worshipping the ‘beautiful God’ they can internalise the beauty within!
Our true, internal nature is ‘satyam, Shivam, Sundaram’.
May you be awakened to the depth of your beauty within!
