Glad that you are able to listen to the Saturday and Sunday talks Netcast via Eire Vedanta Society YouTube Channel.

  2. Om Maharaj.
Your writing brings the experience alive – as if we were there witnessing all.
    Thank you for that blessing!
I will always be grateful to you for getting a glimpse of Revered Maharaj at Belur Math. Although he was at the start of poor health, I still was able to see him walk and wave to us.
    Jai Sri Ramakrishna!

      Dear Shivani
Thanks for your visit to this Blog!
I do remember your active participation in one of the big events that was held at Belur Math a few years ago. You delivered a speech that was appreciated by the monks there who later confirmed to me personally thanking me for deputing a ‘worthy candidate’ on behalf of Durban Centre for the Conference there. I am glad to get news of your dynamic medical activities that you carry on with other volunteer-devotees in ameliorating the sufferings of poor people.
May your seva-spirit be infectious to others too!
May the Guru‘s kripa be with you!

  3. Respected Maharaj,
I remember the massive cyclone in Andhra Pradesh…
I was a school student in Chennai then. Things are so much smoother now in terms of communication, transportation (the seva, am sure is still challenging) and so can appreciate the difficulty in conducting relief works in 1978!
Swami Atmasthananda Ji’s positive support must have been such a huge encouragement to your team and your goodself. So heartwarming to also read about his initiative in setting up a hospital in Arunachal Pradesh – it must have given so much succour to the tribal inhabitants.
Eagerly look forward to reading the next part.
    Kindly accept our pranam.

Thanks for your visit to this blog!
Yes, glad that you are in appreciation of the unending challenging situations that cropped up during the Divi Seema Relief and Rehabilitation seva-karya in the 70s. The inestimable value of the soothing role played by Late Revered Atmasthananda Ji Maharaj cannot be ever forgotten.
Many more works could be listed; but the establishment of a Hospital at Itanagar, I consider personally was a wonderful service to the suffering tribal population there.
Please await the remaining portion of my Post in the next week! Happy reading!

      Dear Purnima
Thanks for eagerly awaiting my Posts! The loving feedback I get from devotees like you gives me tremendous encouragement to write further. This helps me to overcome the sneaking ‘writer’s block’ from time to time!
You will be happy to know that this year is being celebrated as Centenary Year in Revered Atmasthananda Ji Maharaj‘s commemoration. So the Centenary Committee is preparing a worthy Souvenir that will include memoirs of many monks and devotees. That would be a real treasure trove of memorable incidents for the devotees. It was supposed to be released on the 10th May but due to present trying times, the function has been postponed in Kolkata.
      Happy reading!
May the Guru‘s kripa be with you!

The life of a saint is indeed the lesson. This snapshot into the life of Revered Swami Atmasthananda Ji Maharaj is a demonstration of self-sacrifice, determination and love among others.

Thanks for your visit to this blog!
Yes, how true it is that the “life of a saint is indeed the lesson”!
Because they live in God, see God around them in everything and everywhere.
Once Revered Swami Ranganathananda Ji was shown the house building plans made for people affected by natural disasters. When he pointed out that each house should have a toilet, the engineers told him that it will only increase the cost and people in the villages do not mind the lack of toilets there. Swami Ranganathananda Ji was dismayed and he quipped that how Holy Mother suffered at Dakshineshwar due to lack of privacy and he doesn’t want that discomfort be there for the village women too. Because She is in them!
May we learn from the life of every saint!

  6. Namaskaram Maharaj Ji,
I am really graced to read your blog. It is also one form of meditation i.e., reading and then imagining as you go on reading… By reading your blogs not only we can know your experiences but also there is a great learning.

Thanks for your visit to this Blog and giving your valuable comment!
You have rightly said that readings “is also one form of meditation”!
That is why our ancients have always emphasised the act of adhyayanam – study – of scriptural and puranic lore. When you read about any incident, it should expand before the mental horizon and one gets deeply absorbed in it. As Bhagawan Sri Krishna says in His Gita, “kathayantascha maam nityam” (X.9), devotees among themselves must be able to speak about those divine incidents so that everyone is spiritually benefitted.
May the Guru who is antaryami within us, guide us all!

      Dear Rohit
      Thanks for your kind words!
Glad to learn that you are attending to my weekly classes on Saturdays and Sundays. Well, I have visited Brisbane from Singapore. I do not remember whether I met you there or not.
Spiritual knowledge was and is always free. As Swami Vivekananda says “All knowledge is within”. Our duty as religious preachers is to ignite the flame that is already within. That is labour of love to the humanity. Why then should anyone pay?
If you have been enjoying my Talks, know it is by His grace only that they are appealing to you.
May Sri Ramakrishna bestow His grace!
